Well Child Visits

Newborn Care

newborn care includes underging screening for over 30 genetic and rare medical conditions. The aim is to detect and treat these diseases early, preventing serious complications such as growth issues, developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, blindness, deafness, and seizures.
This screening involves pricking the baby's heel to collect a few drops of blood on a filter paper, which is then sent to the State Newborn Metabolic Screening Lab in Richmond for testing. Results typically arrive within the first two weeks of your baby's life. Your newborn’s checkup is a comprehensive exam where our pediatric staff will check to ensure your newborn is eating normally and not losing an excessive amount of weight, not developing significant jaundice and not developing symptoms of serious conditions that may not have been apparent immediately after birth. We will also work with you, as a new parent, to answer any questions and partner with you on an exciting and rewarding childcare journey.
